I started making my own costume jewelry a few years ago because I was concerned about the amount of lead in costume jewelry from places like Forever 21, Old Navy, Target, and Kohl’s. My son was much younger at the time and liked to put my necklaces in his mouth, so I wanted to make sure they were toxin free. Friends/family liked my creations and the fact that they are lead-free and nickel-free and encouraged me to sell them. My general tagline is that I make the kind of jewelry I would want to wear and charge the price that I would want to pay. I love how a carefully selected piece of jewelry can complete an outfit and I believe it should not be expensive to do so.
